Manitoba Government, The Office of the Fire Commissioner is the agency responsible for the Manitoba Building, Plumbing and Fire Codes. To exercise this responsibility, the Codes and Standards section of the Office of the Fire Commissioner: 

• Develops new, and updates existing, code requirements
• Examines building plans for code compliance
• Issues building and occupancy permits
• Inspects buildings, mobile homes, and recreational vehicles
• Provides support to the Manitoba Building Standards Board
